We also let you know what types of cookies are used and for what purpose by the manger of the Doco Platform in its web site version (the “Platform”) owned by Entidad Pública Empresarial Renfe-Operadora (the ‘Company’ and/or ‘Renfe’).

  1. What are cookies and what are they used for?

Cookies are files installed on your device (for example, your computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you use the Platform. Cookies are use to ensure the quality, usability and correct operation of the Platform, as well as to store and recover information about browsing habits on them and personalise content, being used, on occasions to recognise the Platform’s user.

Therefore, cookies are essential to the Platform´s operation and never involve a risk to your device. Moreover, they can help us to identify possible improvements to the Platform and detect operational errors.

Cookies can be classified into various types, according to different criteria we set out below.

3.1 Types of cookies depending on the entity managing them

Own Cookies: are those sent to your device from the Platform or a device managed by Renfe and where the service is provided from.

Third Party Cookies: are those sent to a device from a device or domain that is not managed by Renfe, but another entity that processes the information obtained using them. If the cookies are installed from the Platform or a device managed by Renfe, but the information collected using them is managed by a third party, these cannot be considered to be own cookies if the third party uses them for their own purposes (for example, to improve the services it provides).

3.2 Types of cookies depending on the period of time they remain active on your device

Session Cookies: are those designed to collect and store information solely during the duration of your visit to the Platform and disappear when the session ends. They are normally used to store information that it is only of interest to keep to ensure the basic operations of the Renfe Platform during your visit to it.

Permanent Cookies: these cookies store information for a longer period of time, and it may be accessed and processed by the cookie manager during that period. This period varies depending on each cookie and may go from some minutes to several years.

3.3 Types of cookies depending on their purpose

Technical: these are essential for our web site to operate correctly and include basic functions such as identifying the session or giving registered users access to restricted areas. For these reasons, they cannot be deactivated.

Statistical: these are used to see how you interact with the web site, gathering anonymous information during the time you browse it. The purpose of collecting this information is to introduce improvements to the web site depending on the analysis of the aggregated data.

Preference: when using them, the web site can remember information during your browsing time associated with the way in which the site behaves or the aspect it has, such as your preferred language or the region you are in.

Marketing: or publicity cookies, are used to analyse your behaviour while you visit the web site and so that other providers may occasionally offer your personalised advertising that is relevant in the light of your browser profile.

Social Networks: are configured by a series of social network services that we have added to the web site to enable our content to be shared with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking you on your browser via other web sites and create a profile of your interests This may modify the content and messages you find on other web sites you visit. If you do not allow this cookies, you cannot see or use the sharing tools.

  1. How can you configure cookies on the Platform?

5.1 Configuring cookies from the cookie configuration centre on the Platform

You can accept or reject the use of cookies, at any time and as many times as you like, using the cookie configuration panel that is available on the Platform, and that you can access via the basic information about cookies message that appears when you visit the Platform for the first time, as well as via the Cookie Configuration Panel at the following link:

 

Warning about Third party cookies:

In some cases, it not possible to uninstall or delete them via the cookie configuration panel. In these cases, you should follow the instructions in the next section “Configuration of cookies using your browser”.

 

 

5.2 Configuration of cookies using your browser

 

You can allow, block or delete cookies installed on your computer at any time through the options available in the browser you use. We tell you how to do it:

• If you use Firefox: Click the Firefox button and select Options > Privacy > Use custom settings for history > Check Accept cookies to activate them, and uncheck them to disable them > Choose how long cookies will be stored > Accept. • If you use Google Chrome: click the Chrome menu in the browser toolbar > Settings > Show advanced options > In the "Privacy" section, click on Content Settings > In the "Cookies" section you can configure the cookies. • If you use Android: press Menu > Settings > Security and Privacy > activate or deactivate the "Accept cookies" box > Restart the browser for the changes to take effect.

• If you use Windows Phone: In Internet Explorer, press More > Settings. You can also access Internet Explorer settings through Settings in the applications list. Select or disable the Allow cookies option.

 

 

5.3 Configuration of cookies using your mobile device

If you use an iPhone or iPad: on the start screen, select Settings > Safari and then select the configuration option you prefer. For more information click here

If you use Android (third): click on Menu > Settings > Security and Privacy > activate or deactivate the “Accept cookies” box > Restart the browser so that the changes are effective.

Processing your personal data is necessary for the purposes indicated above (section 4) and the legal basis is user consent, which is given when they accept their use via the button provided for that purpose. At any event, in accordance with the provisions of section 5 above, users may revoke their consent at any time.

  1. Conservation period

The conservation periods for cookies will depend on the type of cookie and its owner. You can see more information about these period in section 4 of this policy.

  1. International assignments and transfers to Third Parties

Users can obtain information about transfers to third party countries that, if appropriate, are made by the third parties identified in this cookie policy in the relevant policies.
